Omaha garbage, recycling collection schedule changes for July 4

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - If your garbage and recycling usually gets collected on Friday, it won’t on July 4.

The City of Omaha announced changes to the schedule ahead of the holiday.

Collections scheduled for Monday through Thursday will remain the same. If your collection day is Friday, it will be rescheduled for Saturday, July 5.

Residents should place material out for collection by 6 a.m. on collection day, according to the city.

As a reminder, do not try to recycle fireworks and wait for them to cool before putting them in the garbage can. Dousing them with water is recommended.

Residents are responsible for replacing carts damaged by fireworks or melted from the heat they cause.

Normal collection schedules will resume on July 7.
